TAKE A PLEDGE FOR TRUTH

At our local library last night, Courtney E. Martin held a book-signing for Learning in Public, now in paperback. One reference led to another as I was reviewing my notes and I found myself signing this pledge, to TEACH TRUTH! The name is a coincidence, but fits well with our purpose. Honestly, I have been avoiding any mention of the backlash against ethnic studies, CRT, and any discussion of race in classrooms. But the backlash needs a response of some kind, sighing this pledge is a step. We need to commit to teaching hard history, teaching and reaching for truth. Our society, our kids, the future of our democracy depend on it.
